Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the BSV Bible app ("the App," "we," "us") handles your information. We've kept this short, plain, and honest because that's how we'd want a Bible app to treat us.

The short version

BSV Bible is designed to keep your personal study on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your reading habits, notes, highlights, or memory progress. The only data that ever leaves your device is what's necessary for you to use the App's features.

Data stored only on your device

The following information is stored locally on your device and never sent to our servers:

• Notes, highlights, and bookmarks
• Reading-plan progress
• Memory-verse progress
• Inductive marking categories and observations
• Theme, audio, and display preferences
• Reading position and history

If you use the in-app Backup feature, the App produces a JSON file that you can save or share through your device's standard share sheet. We do not receive a copy of that file.

Data we collect

We collect only what's strictly necessary to run paid features:

• Anonymous user identifier — Our payment provider, RevenueCat, generates a random anonymous ID when you first open the App so the App can track whether you have an active premium entitlement. This ID is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal information you control.
• Purchase history — If you purchase a premium upgrade, RevenueCat records the receipt so the entitlement can be restored across reinstalls and devices signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account.

Data we do not collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
• We never see your payment-card information — Apple and Google handle every transaction.

Study tools (Word Study, Cross-References, Daily Proverb)

When you tap a word for a Word Study, request a Cross-Reference list, or open the Daily Proverb, the App sends the relevant Bible reference (and, for Word Study, the English word you tapped) to our server, which forwards the request to Anthropic's API. We do not send any user identifier with these requests. We cache the AI response keyed only by the verse reference or word so that other users who look up the same passage benefit from the cache. No personally identifiable information is ever stored alongside these cached results.

Children

BSV Bible is appropriate for all ages, but it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we will update the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, surface the change inside the App.
